FROM INSPIRATION POINT

#4 GOD'S CALL FROM MOUNT HORAB
There comes a time in every person's life when God has to get his attention. When we get older it is easy to look back and see where he got our attention. No matter how much we try to ignore God and go on with life's routine, God finds a way to get our attention.
Nothing could have been more routine in the life of Moses than daily taking sheep to pasture. For forty years he had been taking three or four generations of sheep to green pastures, but today on the slopes of Mt. Horab, things were going to be different. Today a voice from a burning bush was going to change his life and, at age 80, he was going to embark on a journey that would change forever the course of history.
It started as a simple burning bush. Moses tried to ignore it, thinking that it would soon burn up, but it did not. He got up and moved a little closer to this unusual fire. Then suddenly, he heard a voice that seemed to come from the bush, calling his name. In fear, he answered, "Here am I." The voice then said, "Take the sandals off your feet, for the ground upon which you are standing is holy ground." In terror, he obeyed. In all of his life nothing like this had happened before. God got his attention.
A few years ago a couple had an only son. The father operated a successful business and from the day that son came into his life he was grooming him to take over that business. He sent him to a business school at a major university. At the same time the mother tried to develop the artistic and spiritual side of the boy. This brought about some conflicts in the family, but this all came to an end when they were notified that their son was killed in an automobile accident at college. Both parents were devastated. The mother dealt with here grief from a spiritual viewpoint, and the father finally began to turn to her for help and comfort. Eventually he found a new view of life from her example.
As you look back on your life, has there been a burning bush somewhere? Perhaps you have not arrived at that point yet, but it is ahead of you. A time is coming when we have to face the realities of life by acknowledging that life is more than food, clothes, business, bills, and a parcel of fun loving experiences. When you get to that inspiration point, look carefully at the Word of God from the burning bush in the shape of a cross.
